timshel ! an original pirate rp !
Andoris had been a well-run continent a while ago. From the Ro'olaava, the capital city of Le'vaal, the Empress ran the continent smoothly (though the desert country of Eroboleighus was, even then, out of her reach). Upon her death, her granddaughter took up the place as Empress. She was inexperienced and not entirely sure what to do. As such, she trusted the words of her advisers in most topics. With so many different opinions shaping the laws, things spun out of control. The citizens of Undehn soon found themselves locked in a cycle of ever-increasing taxes, subtle as it may have been. Those that realized what was going on began to plan their uprising. The Undehnian rebels have been lying in wait for their chance to strike the empire.
Meanwhile, the tiny country of Iilrah has been growing ever-poorer. The only thing keeping it alive is the most prominent village, the tiny port town of Lo. It is here that the Roche Pirates make their home. They steal from around the continent, bringing back most of their earnings to the country (that's not to say that their virtues are all well and good). In their travels, they came across a rag-tag group of minstrels making their way about the country. In a rushed decision, they kidnapped the group, brought them aboard their ship, and began using any earnings they made to fuel their country's economy. The minstrels themselves are, honestly, fine as long as they've got food, shelter, and music.
The mountain village of Alpea and the desert nation of Eroboleighus have mostly stayed out of the way in the passing years. The Alpeans were so wrapped up in their religion that they never noticed the world below them changing so dramatically. So long as their ways remained the same and no outsiders tried to interrupt their ways of life, they were fine. Eroboleighans, on the other hand, were outside of the Empire's range. They've been driven by their own patriarchal monarchy since their formation.Timshel, 'thou mayest’! Why, that makes a man great, that gives him stature with the gods, for in his weakness and his filth and his murder of his brother he has still the great choice. He can choose his course and fight it through and win!
The continent of Andoris has been thrown into controversy and turmoil. It's only a matter of time before the breaking point, so something's gotta give eventually. Just remember that the choice lies in the hand of the individual. 'Thou mayest' -- that is what 'timshel' means, after all.
